Background

In the past few decades, we’ve seen explosive growth in codes. Code is a means of automation that ultimately increases our productivity, whatever the product is. The blockchain is an extension of this pervasive computing trend aimed at the automation of trust.

It all started with Bitcoin. The concept of creating digital scarcity utilizing cryptography took the world by storm. Satoshi Nakamoto achieved an entirely predictable issuance model for a currency through a carefully defined mathematical model, eliminating the need for a central authority that could potentially interrupt the transactions or value.

Digital currency did not begin with the invention of Bitcoin. Many have toyed with the concept, but they have repeatedly failed. We now understand that the fundamental lack of decentralization attributes to these failures. The idea of a decentralized economy seemed a purely ideal utopia just a few years ago, especially in less developed countries/regions where monetary policy can be highly erratic. The notion of a rules-based issuance model that avoided political and economic influences was too good to be true. However, similar to the internet frenzy at the beginning of the new millennium, blockchain technology has blossomed.

Bitcoin was followed by Ethereum, expanding on the idea of a decentralized network to automate trust in the transfer of value beyond financial transactions. Introducing the concept of Smart Contracts in Ethereum allowed smaller programs (decentralized apps) to be executed on the blockchain. Since then, some clear use cases have emerged: recording the provenance of physical goods, the authentication of data, the tokenization of goods and services, and digital collectibles. In the six years since Ethereum was first introduced, countless innovative infrastructures have been developed, scaled up, and widely adopted. We are now on the verge of a revolutionary advancement in the web industry, a new and exciting future which many have coined as Web 3.0, the completely decentralized version of the Internet-based on blockchain technology.

Antalpha Ventures

Antalpha Ventures was born under these circumstances, with the goals of bridging between traditional finance and blockchain finance and building a compliant digital asset management platform.

We firmly believe that Web 3.0 can be accelerated by the provision of meaningful information about the industry and individual projects. Primarily focused on early-stage blockchain companies, we leverage our strategic partnerships and years of experience in the blockchain space to help our portfolio companies build disruptive decentralized Web 3.0 businesses. Antalpha is funded by some of the earliest adopters in the blockchain industry, including one of the largest manufacturers of the ASIC chips to mine crypto, and a leading investment platform that sources, screens, manages, and unlocks institutional-quality alternative investment opportunities for professional investors.

Investment Thesis

We believe in the power of passionate innovators and disruptors. Our investments range from Pre-Seed to Series B, focusing on bold founders building early-stage, blockchain-enabled Web 3.0 companies and teams. Infrastructure is the key to technological advancement. We will always back teams devoted to scaling up the development and adoption of blockchain. Our portfolio so far covers Web 3.0 middleware technologies, including (x)Fi, NFT, metaverse, and DAO.

Team

Antalpha has gathered talents from both traditional and decentralized finance. Led by some of the earliest believers of Bitcoin’s potential with decade-long experiences in the industry, we have built extensive relationships with the blockchain venture capital community to connect founders with the right partner at the right time. Our investment team is seasoned in the field of blockchain and traditional finance. We have developed a broad network of potential partners, customers, advisors, and mentors across numerous verticals and will connect founders with the right people when appropriate.

In short, the Web is changing, and we’re evolving along. It’s in all of our best interests to see the space flourish, expand, and continue to mature, as we are still in the infancy of Web 3.0. We’re excited to start laying down the building blocks of a highly advanced and widely adopted decentralized future. Let’s BUILD.
